Machine Labs has spent the past two years developing email marketing software which results in ecommerce companies selling substantially more to their databases than if they use competing products.

We have now reached Product/Market Fit and are moving from being mainly software engineers to creating sales and marketing teams.

The company has received venture capital funding and is backed by some very successful entrepreneurs. Substantial additional funding is available to scale the business.

We’re looking for our first Director of Sales to take responsibility for sales, including the achievement of the sales target for the business. The Director of Sales will be a key part of the management team working closely with the CEO and the CTO.

Initially the role will include management of one existing Account Executive but a team will be built out over time.

The role currently reports to the CEO but a VP Sales will be recruited in the future, either as an external appointment or an internal promotion.

The Director of Sales could be based anywhere in the UK with occasional visits to the head office in Edinburgh.

Skills and Experience

We need a track record of growing sales and hitting targets. Previous experience in selling B2B SaaS is essential. Experience in marketing technology or the Shopify ecosystem would also be very useful.

This role also requires some experience of recruitment and management of sales people.

Startup experience is useful as this role will involve working out how to sell our product and setting up systems and processes. This is very different to working at an established company but much more interesting!

The company has a large number of customers outside the UK (mainly in USA) so experience of international sales would also be useful.

Salary and Benefits

Salary and commission is competitive. Stock options are available under the company’s Enterprise Management Incentives scheme. Given the early stage of the business these options will be very valuable if the company meets its objectives.

Benefits include pension and flexible working. A WeWork membership is provided giving an attractive local office with free coffee from a barista and a free bar in the evening.

We are particularly keen to receive applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds.
